The question before the technology

A blockchain is a slow, expensive database with one remarkable property: nobody has to trust anybody for the records to be trustworthy. If your problem does not need that property, you do not need a ledger - and we say so before you spend money learning it the hard way. If it does, the fit can be excellent: provenance, multi-party traceability, verification without a referee.
