Product discovery & ideation
The most expensive software is the software nobody needed. Discovery is a few weeks of focused research - market, competitors, users - that turns a rough idea into an evidence-backed plan, or tells you plainly that the evidence is not there.

- Market and competitor research
- User journeys and needs mapped
- Features ranked by value and effort
- A clear go, pivot or stop recommendation
Test the idea while it is still cheap to be wrong
Every product idea rests on assumptions - about who the user is, what they will pay for, what the market already offers. Most of those assumptions can be tested in days, for a fraction of what it costs to discover them in production. We surface them, test the riskiest ones first, and share findings as we go, so you can steer while changing course is still cheap.
What we look at
We size the market and study the competition, map how your users work today and where the friction is, then rank candidate features by the value they carry against the effort to build them. The output is deliberately narrow: the smallest thing worth building first, and the evidence for why.
- Market sizing and competitor analysis
- User journey and needs research
- A scoped, prioritised first release
- Evidence behind every major call
An honest ending
Discovery closes with a recommendation: go, pivot, or stop. A well-argued stop is a perfectly good outcome - it usually saves months of engineering and a launch nobody remembers. If the answer is go, the plan flows straight into prototyping or a build, with the same people who did the research.
Frequently asked questions
- Isn’t discovery just delaying the build?
- A few weeks of research is the cheapest insurance a software project can buy. The delay is real but small; the thing it prevents - months spent building the wrong product - is neither.
- What if you conclude we shouldn’t build it?
- Then you have spent a little to save a lot, and you have the evidence to redirect the budget with confidence. We would rather say so early than take the build work anyway.
- How much of our time will it take?
- A handful of workshops and interviews. We do the legwork between sessions and bring the findings to you, so the load on your team stays light.
- Can this lead straight into a build?
- Yes. The output is a scoped plan a build team can start on - and if that team is ours, there is no handover gap, because the people who did the research carry on.
